Tide: 1.5ft high at 9am, 2.8ft high at 4pm, long incoming
Josh and I decided to take advantage of the low forecasted winds and fish off the beaches this morning. We launched around 9am and immediately had action 50 yards from the sand. I spotted a tripletail dip its tail out of the water on a marker and let Josh take him since I didn't have the right lure tied on. Josh hooked up on the second cast to the marker on a DOA shrimp and produced a very nice 11lb tripletail that should make great tablefare tonight. We switched gears in search of tarpon and found a few fish rolling in the slick gulf waters. I was fortunate enough to sightcast and hook up to a 100lber on a silver DOA Baitbuster but unfortunately lost it after the first jump. Also soaked a piece of cut catfish on the way in for a while and caught a 4' blacktip. The tarpon ARE here, now it's just a matter of putting the time in.
and a 27" snook caught in a Cape Coral canal a few days ago.
