Weather: 10-15 mph Northeast Wind, Sunny
Tide: 0.1ft Low at 9:15am, 1.6 Low at 8pm

I made it out to the flats mid-morning to catch the low incoming tide. Once the sun was high I got into a school of slot reds cruising the backs of rays. I caught 3 by pitching weedless jerkbaits to them and also gigged a few rays for the night trip. When we arrived at the beach there were tarpon skyrocketing on huge schools of mullet but of course we weren't prepared with the right tackle to target them. We got baits out before sunset and 1.5 hours later John's 12/0 with a big, stinky bait screamed a note that resembled a hammer or blacktip run. We leaned toward hammer because of the bait size but we never found out as the line was cut before the hookset 200 yards out. An hour later my TLD with a ray dropped just past the sandbar went off and after a decent fight a little 5'10" bull hit the sand.
