Tide: -0.6ft low at 9am
We finally had a day with good weather for a change..this has been the coldest and windiest winters I can remember since moving to Florida in 2000. Anyways, we hit the flats around 11am to catch the latter incoming tide. We were on multiple pods of medium sized tailing reds for 30 min and got 3 to eat, but none boated. Every few minutes we would see a trout spook in 1' of water so we started blind casting spook jr's and gulp shrimp and caught a 22.5" and 22" trout. Some of the largest I've seen this season and pretty cool to see them in such shallow water. After that we did some exploring, popped out into the Gulf via Blind Pass, and trolled deep plugs for grouper. Didn't get any hits or see any surface activity so we headed back into the sound and waited for darkness to settle in. The skies went dark and the snook started to prowl the lights. They started popping under the lights like crazy and we were able to catch 12 to 24.5" on MirrodineXL's and small Bombers. Pretty diverse day.
