I haven't posted in a while mainly due to not having a camera to post pictures. Anyways, today I fished the Calusa Blueway Paddle Fishing Tournament which called for largest slam (snook, redfish, trout)..there were also many side categories you could win like smallest fish, redfish with most spots, and largest jack. We were on fish all day but unfortunately luck wasn't on my side. I caught the snook and trout within a few casts..the problem was the redfish. Throughout the 5 hours of fishing I had 6 different redfish hit my bait..5 on topwater and 1 on gulp that was tailing. Any of these fish would have put me in 1st place, however none of these fish managed to catch the hooks..very frustrating, but that's tournament fishing for ya. First place ended up being JD with 73", second place was 56", and third place was 55". Only a handful actually caught the slam..word was the bite was tough everywhere, possibly due to the full moon last night. Largest redfish was 24", largest trout was 25", and I ended up winning largest snook at 26" which I caught on the spook jr. The payout was based on 50 entries...27 showed up so the tournament director actually put more money into the payout than what it was supposed to be. Overall it was a well run tournament and a fun day of fishing.
