Tide: 0.5ft at 11:30am
I decided to fish in the morning for a change. I figured the water is cooler in the morning, plus the tide was a bit higher which the reds seem to like this time of year. I launched at 7:30am and paddled around for a while. Didn't see anything for at least an hour when the sun got a bit higher. I stood up in the Ultimate and drifted a very shallow flat. I saw a couple tailing but not like the past few afternoons. I ended up catching 2 tailers (27" and 29") on a 3" gulp shrimp and lost a couple more due to pulled hooks. Some goon came across the flat I was fishing FULL THROTTLE and spooked everything off of it. I was actually casting to a tailer at the time so you can guess what kind of salute I gave him as he passed. Anyways the tides look pretty good this week for afternoon tailers. Hopefully the weather stays the way it's been.
