Weather: less than 5 mph wind, clear skies
Tide: slack tide all morning, about 1ft

Well after hooking 6 tarpon in the past week and not landing any, my dad and I decided to try again this morning. I launched before sunrise to get an early start on catching bait but only managed a couple bites. We started putting baits out at our original hole and saw a few mid size (50lb) tarpon frolicking around. After not getting a hit we moved to another spot and found quite a few larger fish. After what seemed like an eternity I get a run only to see that its a stingray!

After moving spots again we start to get swarmed by tarpon. The tide was not moving at all so they weren't really in the feeding mood. After a long time without action my dad hooks up around 11am. We estimated her around 70-80lbs with quite a few good jumps. We had her close to the Ultimate several times and after leading the fish she took off.

It was definitely a slow day but it only takes that one bite to turn everything around. It really was a beautiful morning with no wind (for a change) and clear skies. The tides for next week are looking great so there should be another tarpon report in a few days.
