Weather: 10 mph wind, partly cloudy
Tide: -0.5ft @ 11:30pm

Today we went back to Sanibel to target sharks from the beach. But in order to do that we had to catch bait. Tim and I went to Matlacha for a few hours this morning and caught 9-10 stingrays anywhere from 5lb-25lbs. There were a couple sharks working the bar the stingrays were on so it was nerve-racking especially since we wading in the water. There was also many schools of mullet and white bait all over the grass and sandbar. After a brief rest at home we headed out to the beach at 6:30pm. Jeff immediately began rigging half of a 25lb ray with two j-hooks and paddled it out. We would eventually get 3 more rods out and began to wait. Jeff's rod with half a ray went off first and we knew it was a good shark. It ran for a little while but dropped the bait. A few minutes later it came back, Jeff set the hook and he was on! A few seconds later after not gaining any line the line was cut by an old crab trap or submerged rocks. We ended up getting multiple runs..Matt landed a 4' blacktip and Tim landed a 7'3 lemon. We had two more GOOD runs during the last of the outgoing tide but couldn't get a hookset. Both runs felt like heavy fish.
